At Nusaned, we focus on building self-sustained communities while maintaining flexibility to address a variety of needs as they arise, especially in times of crisis. Reaching out to those that need help the most, we guide individuals and families through the initial steps of resisting and overcoming poverty, while encouraging a culture of sharing and community support to create a long-lasting network of strength

The economic crisis in Lebanon is worsening, with poverty and economic inequality on the rise. Hundreds of thousands of Lebanese citizens have become impoverished, adding to the 1 million (1 in 4 people) estimated to already be living under the poverty line. These communities are sustained only by a strong social infrastructure of giving.
The COVID-19 outbreak has created further challenges, mainly related to deficiencies in adequate shelter and healthcare. The closure of many establishments has led to widespread job losses, making it even more difficult for people to afford basic necessities.

Nusaned’s long-term ambition is to gradually move away from an aid provider to supporting micro-enterprise initiatives. We are working together with affected communities, our network of 200 volunteers and focal points, as well as 20 local NGO partners to come up with creative ideas to always support all Lebanese communities in need.

Since December 2019, Nusaned’s ongoing Goods In Need program has been distributing basic goods to impoverished families to help them transition out of crisis and into a sustainable livelihood. By partnering with local and international NGOs, we are able to diversify the goods we distribute and create work opportunities for local enterprises.
