Fatmeh, a widowed mother of six children, had no income and no one to turn to. She wasn’t able to secure a job due to factors such as age and gender discrimination as well as labour oversupply. Her house was in dire condition with the roof unsafe and leaking. Winters were particularly hard to endure with no heat and a few candles to light. Keeping her children warm was the biggest challenge especially when it rained and the roof leaked.
